Today was the first day of the Nor-Am Alpine Championships this year being held at Whiteface Mountain. The Nor-Ams is a level below the World Cup and winners of the Championships are awarded a spot on the World Cup tour for the following year. Included in the field from across the US and Canada are some local atheletes.
Andrew Weibrecht of Lake Placid is the defending champion in the overall and super g events and skied several events on the World Cup tour this season. Andrew placed second in today’s Super G event.

Some other skiers representing the New York Ski Education Foundation based at Whiteface are:
Christopher Beckman from Guilderland, N.Y. who placed 11th today,

And Thomas Beisemeyer who placed 37th today.

Competition continues throughout the week with Men’s and Women’s Super G, Super Combined and Giant Slalom races. I am unsure if I will get out to any more of the competition but will be sure to post some images if I do. I am also posting images in a gallery of my archive if you are looking for a print or use of a photo, the gallery is located here: Nor-Am Gallery.
