Catching Up

So, it’s been awhile, I know. I have been fairly busy since the new year with the usual winter events here in Lake Placid. Since the Bobsled and Skeleton World Cup in December, I have shot the Bodine Bobsled Challenge,

World Cup Freestyle,

 The Jr. Luge World Championships,

 The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival,

The Lake Placid High School Winter Carnival,

and some other assignments stuffed in between.  I am also starting to get quite a few requests for Weddings for this year so if you are planning yours or know someone who is, make sure you get in touch soon to ensure I still have your date open. I have just finished putting together some new Wedding promo materials and plan to meet with some area professionals to talk about how I approach a wedding assignment and give them some handouts for prospective brides. If you know someone I should talk to about this please let me know or give them my email so we can get together. My next step is to update the galleries on the web-site. I want to change the portfolio page to allow for some different galleries. I will be sure to send out a note when I have some new images posted.

My last adventure that I just returned from was a quick trip to South Florida. I was reading one of the Wedding forums and found this nice workshop put on by David Beckstead, a great wedding photog that lives in Washington State and photographs weddings all over the U.S. and abroad. He was teaching about doing model shoots which is something I haven’t done a lot of but think it would be nice for a lot of brides. You spend so much on that dress it is nice to have some photos to show it off. The workshop was hosted by Jennifer and Frances Pappas of Face it Photography in Pompano Beach, Florida, and we got to shoot with some beautiful models in Miami at the Vizcaya Museum and also did some improptu setups downtown in Ft. Lauderdale. Here are a few of my shots, I will put up a gallery on the web site with some more when I get it worked out.

It’s always nice for me to get away and collaborate with some others in my profession. There is always something I can learn and I always come back with a new outlook and some new techniques.
