Last week, Gwyn and I attended the Photoplus Expo in New York City. It is a huge photography convention/trade show/seminars. I have been going down every year for four or five years now and this year decided to have Gwyn come with me. It is a great opportunity to see what is going on in the industry and get a chance to network with people. We looked at some wedding album and book companies, and of course CANON, and found a great product that I am going to start using. It is called a gallery wrap and basically treats a photograph like a painting. Printed on canvas and then stretched over a wooden frame. No picture frame needed and the added dimension of coming out from the wall is really nice. I am ordering some for the house this week so I will have some samples. When they come in I will post some images so everyone can see what they are like. these will be great for portraits or wedding photos that you want to display large format on the wall. I never really liked picture frames anyway so I think I will be using this application quite a lot.
I didn’t even take any of my camera’s down with me since it is all alot of running around but I did have Gwyn’s little point and shoot. I wanted some photos for the blog so I was taking some city shots on our way to the train station. We had to wait for a later train and in the mean time I got some pretty cool shots of the New York City Fire Department in action. These were taken with a Canon Powershot sd550. Just a little point and shoot. I always giggle when someone says to me, “That’s a nice camera, you must be a good photographer.” I like to think that I can make good images with whatever I have, of course having the best equipment does give you some more options. These were processed through Adobe Lightroom with a preset called “300″. I thought they came out kind of cool. Let me know what you think.

Whatever you called yes it is cool. It gives the photos a vintage feel. Even in color.
